Background

The City of Karratha invites local businesses to participate in the 2026 Business Climate Scorecard. This annual survey captures the needs, challenges, and opportunities facing businesses across the City of Karratha.

The Scorecard provides insights into business performance that help or hinder growth in our region. It also allows the City of Karratha to track trends over time and ensure economic development, advocacy, and business support programs remain effective.

Previous business feedback has already helped inform strategic advocacy, funding opportunities, housing initiatives, and the development of the City’s Economic Development and Tourism Strategy - helping ensure future planning reflects local business priorities and supports sustainable growth.

As a thank you for participating in this year’s Business Climate Scorecard Survey, businesses can opt in to receive a free coffee voucher delivered within one working day after completing the survey. View the collection statement.

  • Showcase your business reality: share how your business is performing and your outlook for the future.
  • Highlight the challenges: from workforce attraction and housing to costs and sourcing, let us know what’s holding growth back.
  • Shape City support: provide feedback on leadership, services, and business programs so they better meet your needs.
  • Put opportunities on the radar: tell us what works, from grants to procurement and accommodation schemes.
  • Drive long-term impact: help the City track trends over time and ensure priorities remain aligned with local business needs.

Survey findings will be compiled into the Business Climate Scorecard Report, which will be shared with local businesses and stakeholders. The report will highlight key trends, identify opportunities, and guide the City’s efforts to support a thriving and diverse local economy.

Previous Business Climate Scorecard feedback has helped inform strategic planning, advocacy, and initiatives that support business growth and economic development across the City of Karratha.

  • Baynton Apartments: 37 temporary dwellings approved through strategic land acquisition
  • Bulgarra Apartments: 116 mixed-tenure apartments approved through an innovative 20-year lease model
  • Funding secured: Over $48.1 million secured through Commonwealth and State Government funding
  • Economic Development and Tourism Strategy: Business feedback helped shape the development of the City’s new Economic Development and Tourism Strategy to better reflect local priorities and support sustainable growth
