The City of Karratha is reviewing and updating its Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP). The review seeks to provide the City with a better understanding of coastal hazards and how they could affect planning for existing and future land use and development and measures to address associated risks.
The CHRMAP will help guide the City on the necessary timelines and triggers to implement solutions that reduce coastal risks like coastal erosion and coastal inundation (flooding), in the short and long term. This will help us to protect Karratha’s unique coastline for generations to come.
Community Coastal Values Survey
To help shape our plan, we are seeking your input to help guide the CHRMAP and understand what matters most to our community when it comes to our unique coastline.
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes and has been extended to close at 5pm 13 May 2025.
Study Area Boundaries
Please note that the map below illustrates the boundaries of the study area for the City’s CHRMAP. While we recognise there are beaches beyond this area, only the locations indicated on the map are included in the study and mentioned throughout the survey.
