Background
The City of Karratha is inviting expressions of interest (EOIs) from community members to join the Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Group.
This group will:
- Provide advice to Council on disability, access and inclusion matters
- Support implementation of the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2024–2029
- Represent community perspectives and lived experience of disability
- Promote awareness and advocacy across the City
We welcome EOIs from:
- People living with disability
- Carers / Family members
- Disability service professionals
Members will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Lived experience of disability, caring for a person with disability, or professional experience in sector, to ensure a broad and diverse range of perspectives.
- Demonstrated commitment to access and inclusion, supported by knowledge and experience in matters relating to disability, participation, representation, safety, and wellbeing.
- Be available to attend a minimum of four (4) meetings per year, and contribute for the duration of the two-year membership term.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Live within the City of Karratha.
The City will ensure that meetings are accessible by:
- Allowing members to attend meetings with a support person to facilitate access and active participation in meetings and/or site visits.
- Providing meeting materials in accessible formats, upon request.
- Holding meetings at suitable venues within the City, as well as online.
We recognise that lived experience is a valuable form of knowledge. You do not need formal qualifications or professional experience to join the Advisory Group. Personal experience and connection to community are equally important.
