Shaping the Future for Our Youngest Community Members
The City of Karratha developed its first Early Years Strategy and Implementation Plan to support children aged 0-5 and their families across the City.
Early childhood lays the foundation for lifelong health, learning and wellbeing. This strategy was informed by engagement with local families, service providers, stakeholders and children to help ensure the best possible start in life for our youngest residents.
Throughout 2025 and 2026, the City undertook a range of engagement activities to better understand:
- Community needs and priorities
- Service gaps and opportunities
- Family and caregiver experiences
- Opportunities to strengthen early years outcomes across the City
This work informed the development of the draft Early Years Strategy and Implementation Plan.
During the public comment period, the draft documents were available for community review and feedback. Three community responses were received and will be considered to help inform the final Strategy and Implementation Plan prior to Council endorsement.
Community and stakeholders were invited to participate in Early Years Strategy engagement in April-May 2025.
Community workshops were held from 6-8 May 2025, with a survey open until 12pm on Friday, 9 May for those who could not attend.
Community feedback is now being reviewed and will help shape the final Early Years Strategy and Implementation Plan.
The final Strategy will guide the City’s future priorities and actions to support children aged 0–5 and their families across Karratha.
