Project Background
The City of Karratha is developing its Economic Development and Tourism Strategy (EDTS) 2025–2035, a ten-year plan that sets out how the City of Karratha will grow, diversify, and strengthen our economy while enhancing livability and opportunities for all residents, local businesses and potential investors.
The EDTS builds on extensive engagement with local businesses, Aboriginal organisations, industry partners, and the community to identify shared priorities and opportunities. The strategy sets out clear actions across five focus areas:
- Economic resilience
- Business enablement
- Local enterprise development
- Livability
- Tourism
Tourism has been given a dedicated focus, recognising the UNESCO World Heritage listing of Murujuga Cultural Landscape and its potential to position Karratha as a globally significant destination. The strategy aims to strengthen collaboration, grow investment, and create high-quality visitor experiences that showcase the region’s cultural heritage and natural assets.
Feedback on the draft strategy could be submitted up until 12pm on 15 December 2025.
