Project Background

The City of Karratha acknowledges the Ngarluma People as the Traditional Custodians of the lands within the City of Karratha and is committed to fostering respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Community feedback for the City’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has now closed.

Thank you to the 25 community members who shared their feedback and perspectives during this engagement period. Your contributions will help inform the development of the City of Karratha’s Reflect RAP.

The RAP will guide the City’s approach to reconciliation, including how we strengthen respectful relationships, create opportunities, and contribute to meaningful, positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The project team will now review all feedback received to help shape the focus areas and priorities of the RAP in alignment with Reconciliation Australia’s framework.

Reconciliation is about building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples. It recognises our shared history and supports truth and inclusion across our community.

The City is developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to take meaningful and practical steps towards reconciliation. The RAP will provide a clear framework to guide how we strengthen relationships, create opportunities, and deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
