Project Background

The City of Karratha acknowledges the Ngarluma People as the Traditional Custodians of the lands within the City of Karratha and is committed to fostering respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This project will create a structured framework for developing reconciliation initiatives in alignment with Reconciliation Australia’s guidelines.

We are inviting members of our wider community to provide input into the development of the City of Karratha’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The RAP will guide our organisation’s approach to reconciliation, including how we build respectful relationships, create opportunities, and contribute to meaningful, positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

By sharing your feedback, you will help:

  • Inform the focus areas and priorities of our RAP.
  • Ensure community voices are reflected in our commitments.
  • Strengthen our approach to reconciliation now and into the future

Reconciliation is about building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples. It recognises our shared history and supports truth and inclusion across our community.

The City is developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to take meaningful and practical steps towards reconciliation. The RAP will provide a clear framework to guide how we strengthen relationships, create opportunities, and deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We welcome input from everyone, including community members, organisations, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
