Project Background

The City of Karratha invited community feedback on proposed changes to the Stallholders and Street Trading Policy (DR-05). Amendments were made following a community survey conducted in response to feedback received from mobile and fixed businesses. The input helped us to shape a policy that balances the needs of mobile and fixed business, supports local economic growth and fosters community collaboration. Your feedback was used to refine the policy further before final Council consideration in Quarter 1 2025.

Key Changes Proposed

Town specific trading conditions: Limits on the number of mobile traders and trading hours to provide a level playing field aligned with location

Special event flexibility: To allow mobile traders to participate in community events, promotions, and fundraisers with approval.

Updated trading zones: Revised CBD trading areas across Karratha, Dampier and Wickham with simplified rules.

New locations for trading: Introduction of Hearson’s Cove as an approved location and removal of underutilised locations.
