Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy
The City of Karratha is developing a Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy and Action Plan that will take us into the next ten years.
This strategy will:
- Guide the City on how to handle waste more effectively and sustainably
- Provide clear directions for improving services and infrastructure related to waste management and recycling
- Help the City foster a culture of waste responsibility among residents and businesses
The strategy will be informed by:
- WA Waste Avoidance & Resource Recovery Strategy
- City of Karratha Environmental Sustainability Strategy
- A review of existing documents and data on the City’s waste activities
- A review of the current waste management practices
- An investigation into the economic, demographic, and environmental influences on local waste generation
- Community and stakeholder engagement
Community and stakeholders were invited to attend workshops and fill out an online survey during March - April 2025. The results are now being analysed.
